Weekend Getaway with GDD: Pacific Fest - OC

Deepest apologies for the week long hiatus from the blogiverse, things have been hectic at “the office”. Anyway, straight to the tunes. First off happy flipping weekend! It’s certainly a scorcher out there, make sure you keep that back-sweat under control as much as you can. Aside from this great weather, I have moved back to the financial district for “my day job”. Geeze, talk about bland! If I had a dime for every dude I saw in khakis and a tucked in polo I’d be on early retirement in Ibiza. It’s like a Docker’s factory over here in Downtown Crossing, (however peep the Tumblr to check out whats rad.) Packing about as much style as there is personality. With all due respect I am sharing with you what I could vote as the sickest mix-tape for the summer. It’s a promo tape for the OC’s Pacific Festival. Done up right by GDD. (Southern Cali’s dopest tune-fest…yah wish we were there) Let me tell you, with this in your ears, there is nothing bland about your life. It has the combination of a cool and refreshing drink, with the heavy beat of the sun. So rock that golf shirt gents, take in a breath of that stale air on Washington street, crunch the FUCK out of that spreadsheet, it’s the weekend, pretend your somewhere else. Gotta Dance Dirty and 3dasd will take good care of everything else. ;) HAPPY WEEKEND!!!!!!! – Tracklist after the break.

Icona Pop "Manners" [+ remixes]

Dirty Pop Swede gals Icona Pop has caught the attention of the digiverse with a really fly single “Manners” They have attracted plenty of remix-love, and their sexy, filthy sound, mixed with pure beauty has won the hearts of almost every “empower me fem” and teen boy across Europe. Simple, fun, exciting, sexy; words to describe the song you’re about to hear. I also added a few of the remixes for good measure.

Poolside Day & Night Tapes [+ tons of drums re-edit]

Continuing from yesterday's pool-themed post, can the name POOLSIDE be any more fitting for a pop-synth/80s inspirational outfit that serves you up cool jams on blistering hot days all summer long? LA production duo captures the sound of the perfect afternoon. Their musical craft is easy on the ears and easy on the mind, very necessary when getting your tan and your cucumber drink on next to your summer fling. Enjoy the day tape during and the day, (with proper application of SPF) and follow it up with the night tape..well…once the sun goes down.

Nike 6.0 Pool - Defgrip Official Vid [& Clams Casino Tune]

Proof Nike is the most innovative agency in all the land – They have the absolute coolest ideas, the coolest approach to said ideas, the most brilliant marketing mechanism ever to be initiated, and a desire to touch on EVERY SINGLE corner of every single interest and attitude in lifestyle. They rule with a suede and diamond studded iron fist. They are constantly bettering themselves, improving real estate, gathering consumer interest and provoking active thought. They are dedicated to community research and to what makes a demographic tick. This is a small example of this tireless marketing mechanism -  a former public pool in East London was purchased and drained by Nike 6.0, and converted into an invite-only BMX street
/freestyle haven; in less than two weeks a world-class venue for BMX competitions was born. The creative guys over at Defgrip were invited to enjoy the event and film/kick around. This is the video Jeremy Hollister put together, Clams Casino is the band used for the background tunes (they rule..and song after the break) Enjoy this vid. It reminds me a ton of summer, & going to see the Extreme Games (yep that’s what they were called before Gravity Games/X-games) in Newport RI with my dad. Well done over at Nike. Bliss

DJ Quik - The Book of David LP

Nominated as #14 of Spin Magazine’s “Best Albums of 2011..So Far” This is DJ Quik’s 8th studio album. When asked what his inspiration was for such a unique sound that it represents (compared to everything else he’s spun) he stated it’s sound is “like missing tapes from funk-soaked 1991.” I’m sorry but that is RIGHT up my ally. This will soon be added to your night-time garage party soundtrack, enjoy! (PS the copyright recording that’s peppered throughout the album smooth)

Britney Spears "Till The World Ends" (Cavaliers of Fun RMX)

Never Thought I’d see the day that 3dasd would be sharing something Brit did, but, alas Cavaliers of Fun has made this possible. What can I say, it’s pretty good. I will assure this will fill the floor. It has a really slow burning 80s synth feel to it. The tune might have been reworked as a possible promotional measure for his EP release in September on Barcelona label Holographic People. Or maybe it was a dire attempt to save Ms. Spears from reigning as pop-culture’s queen punching bag, who knows!

you need TOPLESS for your beach parties

YESSS ITS SUMMER! That means the hottest wettest filthiest nu-disco surfaces and starts getting exposure. This is certainly the case with Dutch italo/freestyle-disco duo TOPLESS. These guys are new to the scene and are making quite the splash. The sound that emanates from their craft is chock-full of congos synths, sunshine and sex. Turn your back yard into a beach club..get topless.

New Mumford & Son's Tune: "Home"

During a stint in Colorado, Mumford & Sons dropped by KBCO Radio for a little Q&A and some jam-time. Fans have been getting a good taste of the new material that will be promised for the sophmore album, but this is the first quality recording we have. So enjoy!
